Clean before you store
Storing clothing without washing it first is a common cause of stains setting in and attracting pests over several months. A full wash or dry clean before packing away seasonal items is worth the extra step.
Choose storage that protects against pests and moisture
Cardboard boxes can attract pests and don't protect against humidity as well as sealed plastic bins or vacuum-sealed bags, which are generally better suited to longer-term storage.

Label by category, not just by season
Labeling bins with specific categories (sweaters, winter coats, summer dresses) rather than a general season label makes it easier to find a specific item without unpacking every bin.
